Description of key information

Short-term toxicity to fish:

The toxicity of Ethyl isovalerate on Danio rerio was determined in a GLP study according to OECD 203; reliability 1. The LC50 after 96 hours was calulated as 8.45 mg /L (geometric mean of LC100/LC0 based on mean measured concentration).

Short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates:

The toxicity of Ethyl isovalerate on Daphnia magna was tested in a reliable study according to OECD 202 and in compliance with GLP. The 48 h-EC0 was determined to be >= 73 mg/L based on nominal concentrations (48 h-EC0 >=67 based on measured concentration).

Toxicity to aquatic algae and cyanobacteria:

The toxicity of Ethyl isovalerate on Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata was tested in a reliable study according to OECD 201 and in compliance with GLP. The 72 h- ErC50 was determined to be 124 mg/L based on mean measured concentrations. The 72 h- ErC10 was determined to be 73.6 mg/L based on mean measured concentrations.

Toxicity to microorganisms:

Based on the results from the toxicity control in both biodegradation studies, no inhibitory effects on microorganisms were observed up to a substance concentration of 3 mg/L. The activated sludge test was, therefore, waived.
