PBT assessment: overall result

Reference
Name:
1,1,2,3,4,4-hexafluorobuta-1,3-diene
Type of composition:
boundary composition of the substance
State / form:
gas
Reference substance:
1,1,2,3,4,4-hexafluorobuta-1,3-diene
PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

The substance is not rapidly biodegradable and is not expected to hydrolyse in water. It is therefore potentially persistent. The substance is a gas, or liquefied gas, with a logKow of 2.24, a high vapour pressure, low boiling point and a limited potential for exposure of aquatic organisms or terrestrial organisms. The octanol-air partition coefficient logKoa estimated by calculation was 0.46, thus supporting a low potential for bioaccumulation in terrestrial organisms. The substance is considered T based on suspicion of specific target organ toxicity after repeated exposure and classification STOT RE cat.2

Likely routes of exposure:

As the substance is a gas, the most likely route of exposure is inhalation.
