Description of key information

L-Histidine -hydrochlorid caused a histamine-like reduction in blood pressure in anesthesized cats.

Additional information

In the study of Leuschner and Neumann (1982) the effect of L-histidine-hydrochlorid was examined on histamine-like reduction of the blood pressure in anesthetized cats. The method used was the Depressor Substances Test.

Intravenous injection of 3 mg L-histidine-HCL bw caused a reaction comparable to 0.1 µg Histamine/ kg bw intravenous.

1.0 mg L-histidine-HCL bw intravenous also caused a reduction in blood pressure. When comparing to a previous histamine reaction this is within the 50% area of both animals. Considering the experimental conditions the concentration of 1.0 mg L-histidine-HCL/kg bw showed the expected histamine-like reduction in blood pressure.
