Description of key information

If released into water, isotridecan-1-ol is readily biodegradable (according to OECD criteria).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Biodegradation in water:
readily biodegradable

Additional information

Isotridecan-1 -ol was shown to be readily biodegradable in the Manometric Respirometry Test according to EEC Directive 79/831 using domestic non-adapted activated sludge. Based on O2-consumption biodegradation was in the range of 90 - 100% after 28 days (BASF 1988). This result is supported by a non-GLP-test carried out according to ISO DIS 9439 guideline. Based on CO2 evolution and domestic non-adapted activated sludge a biodegradation between 90 and 100% after 28 days was determined.
