Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

On the basis of QSAR estimations for the components, "reaction mass of butane and butene" is harmful to aquatic invertebrates.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Since under environmental conditions the reaction mass consists of different gases distributing preferentially into the air, conducting a standard test on acute toxicity to aquatic invertebrates is technically difficult. Therefore, the toxicity of the reaction mass was estimated by seperate QSAR calculations [ECOSAR v1.00 Classes] for the components. The EC50 values of the components calculated for Daphnia range between 14.22 mg/L (butane, CAS 106 -97 -8) and 22.1 mg/L (1,3-butadiene, CAS 106-99-0).
