PREPARATION AND APPLICATION OF TEST SOLUTION (especially for difficult test substances)
A growth inhibition test was performed from 18 to 21 March 2014 using a freshwater algal medium (FWAM) control and six test substance treatments at nominal concentrations of 0 (control), 0.30, 0.95, 3.1, 9.8, 31, and 100 mg hydrogenated jojoba oil/L. The test solutions were prepared as water accommodated fractions (WAF) by weighing 0.00030, 0.00095, 0.0031, 0.0098, 0.0310, and 0.10 g of jojoba wax flakes into individual 2.4-L glass jars containing 1 L of FWAM.
The control solution contained FWAM only.

- Aeration: The WAF solutions were stirred on an electric stir plate for 25 hours, with the stirring adjusted to provide a vortex <35% of the solution depth. The solutions were allowed to settle for approximately 1 hour before transferring into the test
chambers. Prior to transferring, approximately 100 mL of the solution was drained and discarded. All test chambers were labeled with the study number, treatment, replicate, and grid position.
