The LC50 value of 2-methylpropane-2-thiol is 34 mg/L, with 95% confidence limits of 27 and 55 mg/L. The no-mortality concentration and NOEC are 16 mg/L.

The method used in Drottar (1999) is equivalent to OECD 203 and followed Good Laboratory Practice. The only minor deviation is that the substance was not characterised in compliance with GLP and the stability of the test substance under conditions of storage at the test site was not determined in accordance with GLP. We do not consider that this deviation significantly alters the validity of this study. A semi-static system was used and all validity criteria of OECD 203 were met. This is a GLP, guideline study and therefore can be considered reliable and suitable for use as the key study for this endpoint.
