Description of key information

There are no classification requirements for the submission substance with regard to physico-chemical hazards.

With regard to classification for corrosiveness to metals, CLP guidance (1) outlines that only liquid substances as well as solids that may become liquids (melting point < 55°C) must be taken into consideration here: "Classification of solid substances that may become liquids by dissolution is subject to further expert judgement, and may need adaptation of the classification criteria or test protocol". However, as the submission substance is not hygroscopic and only poorly soluble in water, and no melting point could be determined up to 500°C, there is clearly no potential for corrosiveness to metals for the submission substance.

 

With regard to classification for self-reactiveness, the exothermic decomposition energy is less than 300 J/g (see Siemens study number 20160490.02 – DSC for determination of melting point). Rather, an endothermal effect was observed (-280 J/g). Thus, according to Annex I, section 2.8.4.2 of REGULATION (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP), classification procedures need not to be applied.

Overall, the substance does not have to be classified for physical hazards.
