In the aquatic toxicity studies microorganisms (EC50[180min]=140 mg/L) were clearly less sensitive than fish (EC50[96h]=4.6-10 mg/L), Daphnia magna (EC50[48h]=3.5 mg/L) and algae (EC50[72h]=97 mg/L) indicating that prokaryotic cells are less sensitive than eukaryotic cells. The most sensitive acute endpoint is 50-fold lower than the result of the activated sludge respiration inhibition test. Hence it is very unlikely that terrestric micro-organisms are more sensitive than terrestrial plants.
