Description of key information

Hydrolysis half-life at pH 4, 7 and 9: very rapid, based on read-across substance trichloromethylsilane

Additional information

No hydrolysis study is available for the test substance. However, a reliable study conducted according to OECD 111 is available for the related substance trichloro(methyl)silane. This substance is fully hydrolysed in less than a minute at pH 4, 7 and 9 and 1.5°C. This is also the case for other chlorosilanes for which measured data is available. Therefore, it can be concluded that the submission substance will hydrolyse rapidly under environmentally relevant conditions and no further testing is necessary.
