Description of key information

Reactive Blue 19:1 showed no evidence for skin sensitizing properties. Supporting information from the oxidised test item which occurs during the dyeing process also indicates no sensitizing properties.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no adverse effect observed (not sensitising)
Additional information:

Testing for sensitizing properties of Reactive Blue 19:1 was performedin female Guinea pigs according to the method of MAGNUSSON &KLIGMAN. Intradermal induction was performed using 1% reactive Blue 19:1.in isotonic saline. Dermal induction and challenge treatment were carried out with 2.5% Reactive Blue 19:1 in isotonic saline. Based on the results of this study Reactive Blue 19:1 showed no evidence for sensitizing properties.

Respiratory sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no study available

Justification for classification or non-classification

Reactive Blue 19:1 showed no evidence for sensitizing properties; hence, no classification is necessary.
