Results and discussion

Flammable solids
Key result
Test procedure:
burning rate test: preliminary screening test
Remarks:
The sample melted to a black liquid then ignited producing a localised medium orange flame. The flame lasted for a few seconds once test flame was removed.
Moisture (wt %):
1.42
Remarks on result:
other: From the preliminary screening (S/T) test the sample was seen to briefly ignite and therefore no further testing is required.

Any other information on results incl. tables

From customer supplied information the sample is known to contain 0.6 %w/w isoamyl alcohol. The literature value (Sigma-Aldrich) for the boiling point is 136-138 °C. If the amyl alcohol was removed during the drying process, the moisture content could be 0.82%.
The residual isoamyl alcohol may have contributed to the localised medium orange flame.
