Description of key information

Tea tree oil is readily biodegradable in water under the conditions of a closed bottle test and a sealed-vessel CO2 evolution test. It should be noted that, consistent with available guidance, the 10 -day window should not be applied to interpret the results of tests conducted with multi-component and suface-active substances. An detailed evaluation of the biodegradability of tea tree oil is included in IUCLID section 2.3 in the context of the PBT assessment.
