Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Five studies, investigating the short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates of fatty acids, C8-10 (even numbered), di-and triesters with propylidynetrimethanol (CAS 11138-60-6) are available. These studies were conducted with Daphnia magna and according to OECD 202. All available data indicate that the test substance is of low toxicity to Daphnia magna.

The key study investigated the toxicity of fatty acids, C8-10 (even numbered), di-and triesters with propylidynetrimethanol in a limit test (Häner, 2007). Daphnia magna was exposed to a WAF loading rate of 100 mg/L. No effects on mobility of D. magna were observed resulting in an EL50 (48 h) > 100 mg/L. The second study was performed according to OECD 202 (GLP) as a limit test with a nominal loading of 10000 mg/L (Kuttler, 1998). No effects on mobility of D. magna were recorded resulting in an EL50 (48 h) > 10000 mg/L. Both other supporting studies (Källquist, 1995 and Craig, 2005) calculated EL50 (48 h) > 1000 mg/L (WAF loading rate).

One additional test result (EC50 (48 h) 15.86 mg/L) should be evaluated with caution because the original report was not available and therefore the documentation was insufficient for a final assessment (Draguez, 1991).
