There are no studies on toxicity to aquatic algae available for sodium beta-alaninate. Nevertheless, there is one study covering this endpoint by the use of the structural homologue calcium beta-alaninate (CAS 36321-40-1):

The algae toxicity was investigated in a non-GLP, 72 -hour static test with the green alga Scenedesmus subspicatus according to a national standard method (DIN 38412 L9). EC10 (72h) and EC50 (72 h) were both > 500 mg/L [BASF 1989].
