Description of key information

There are no reliable sensitisation data. However, in accordance with Column 2 of REACH Annex VII, the in vivo skin sensitisation study (required in Section 8.3) does not need to be conducted as the available information indicates that the substance meets the criteria for classification as corrosive to skin.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no study available
Additional information:

1,2-bis[dichloro(methyl)silyl]ethane hydrolyses rapidly in contact with water and moist air, releasing four moles of hydrogen chloride (HCl) for each mole of parent material. It is therefore classified as corrosive and sensitisation testing is not appropriate.

Respiratory sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no study available

Justification for classification or non-classification

In the absence of appropriate measured data, the substance is not classified for sensitisation to skin or the respiratory tract according to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008.
