Description of key information

With regard to the experimental determined Log Pow range of 7.06 - 12.53 (Tait and Laud, 2000), a key value of 7.99 was considered as relevant. This key value is exactly below the trigger value (Log Pow = 8) for the exposure modelling approach using CHESAR v2.3. Log Pow values equal to or above 8 cannot be considered due to exposure modelling limitations.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Log Kow (Log Pow):
7.99
at the temperature of:
25 °C

Additional information

The key value of the C20-24 sodium sulfonate (Benzenesulfonic acid, mono-C20-24 (even)-sec-alkyl derivs., para-, sodium salts) was assessed based on the solubility in n-octanol and water. The partition coefficient was determined by the HPLC method according to OECD Guideline 117 (Tait and Laud, 2000). As a result of this study, a Log Pow range of 7.06 - 12 .53 was determined.
