Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

LC50(96h) Oncorhynchus mykiss = 63 mg/L (measured)

EC50(48h) Daphnia magna = 39 mg/L (nominal)

ErC50(72h) Desmodesmus subspicatus = 26 mg/L (measured); NOECr(72h) Desmodesmus subspicatus = 6 mg/L

No chronic data on tBMA is available. However, for the structurally related nBMA (97-88-1) and MMA (80-62-6) reliable chronic tests were conducted on Daphnia magna, indicating no chronic hazard. For MMA a supporting chronic test with Danio rerio was also conducted.

nBMA:

NOECreproduction(21d) Daphnia magna = 1.1 mg/L (measured)

NOECreproduction(21d) Daphnia magna = 2.6 mg/L (measured)

MMA:

NOECreproduction(21d) Daphnia magna = 37mg/L (measured /geometric mean)

NOEC (35d) Danio rerio = 9.4 mg/L (nominal)

Furthermore, nBMA shows no harmful effects towards aquatic microorganisms (EC20 = ca. 1000 mg/L, domestic activated sludge, OECD TG 209). Therefore, the inhibition of the degradation activity of activated sludge is not anticipated when tBMA is introduced into biological treatment plants in appropriately low concentrations.
