Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

The substance does not meet the criteria for classification as persistent (P), bioaccumulative (B), or toxic (T) under REACH Annex XIII. As such, the substance is not considered to be PBT or vPvB.

Persistence:

Extended ready biodegradability tests indicate that under favourable environmental conditions the substance will biodegrade relatively quickly and therefore is not considered to be persistent (P) or very persistent (vP).

Bioaccumulation:

The bioaccumulation potential of the substance was assessed by QSAR, and it was found that the substance had a relitively low potential for bioaccumulation, with an estimated BCF of 33.3 L/kg. As such, the substance does not meet the criteria for classification as bioaccumulative (B) or very bioaccumulative (vB) under REACH Annex XIII.

Toxicity:

All acute L(E)C50 values were well in excess of the 0.01 mg/L toxicity trigger value stated under the REACH PBT screening criteria. Further to this the 72-hr NOEC for multi-generational algae was found to be 1.25 mg/L, which is far in excess of the REACH Annex XIII defined trigger value of 0.01 mg/L. The substance is also not classified as carcinogenic, mutagenic, or toxic fo reproduction. As such, it is considered that the substance does not meet the criteria for classification as toxic under REACH Annex XIII.
