Exposure controls / personal protection

Exposure controls

Appropriate engineering controls:

Ensure good ventilation of the work station. Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice. Wash hands before breaks and at the end of workday.

Hand protection:

Manipulate with gloves. Gloves have to be controlled before the use. Use a technique of withdrawal of gloves suited to avoid that the skin contacts the product (i.e. without touching the outside surface of the glove). Throw gloves contaminated after the use according to the current laws and to the good practices of laboratory. Wash and dry hands. The selected gloves have to satisfy the specifications of the EU Directive 89 / 686 / EEC and in the standard IN 374 which derives from it.

Eye protection:

Facial protection and safety goggles. Use an equipment of protection of eyes, tested and approved according to the current governmental standards, such as NIOSH (US) or IN 166 (EU).

Skin and body protection:

Wear suitable protective clothing

Respiratory protection:

Where risk assessment shows air-purifying respirators are appropriate use a full-face respirator with multi purpose combination (US) or type ABEK (EN 14387) respirator cartridges as a backup to engineering controls. If the respirator is the sole means of protection, use a full-face supplied air respirator. Use respirators and components tested and approved under appropriate government standards such as NIOSH (US) or CEN (EU).

Environmental exposure controls:

Avoid release to the environment.
