Conclusion on classification

There are no acute aquatic studies on the reaction mass of 4 -sulphophthalic acid and 3 -sulphophthalic acid (read across target substance), however, aquatic fish and algae studies are available for the read across source substance, the reaction mass of sulphophthalic sodium salt. All ecotoxicity values (fish 96h-LC50 >10,000 mg/L, algae 72h-EC50= 90.8 mg/L, and daphnia 48h-EC50= 88.39 mg/L) do not warrant an environmental acute hazard classification.
