Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Executive summary:

In previous study for the determination of Pow the the concentrations of test substance in octanol phases were calculated as difference from the original concentrations and the amount determined in the aqueous phases due to low solubility of Reactive Violet 1 in octanol.

Based on the new findings from other studies of similar substances, it was considered that the procedure used for determination of the partition coefficient mentioned above was not appropriate and could give unreliable results.

Alternatively the partition coefficient could be estimated on the base of the water solubility and on the base of solubility in octanol.

The test substance is practically insoluble in n-octanol. Solubility of test substance in saturated n-octanol is under the limit.

Thus the determination of partition coefficient n-octanol/water cannot be performed due to character of the test substance, Reactive Violet 1.

Based on this information the following Expert Statement is issued instead:

Educated guess of Partition coefficient (log Pow) of the test substance, Reactive Violet 1, is lower than -2.0.
