Aquatic PNECs were derived using the PETROTOX model and the soil and sediment PNECs were calculated using the equilibrium partitioning method.

Conclusion on classification

The acute data available for dodecene are read across from dodec-1 -ene and indicate that acute effects on algae and daphnia are observed at <1mg/l. Dodec-1 -ene was not acutely toxic to fish at its limit of solubility. On the basis of these resulte dodecene would be classified as 'R50/R53 very toxic to aquatic organisms and may cause long term adverse effects in the aquatic environment' under the DSD Directive as although dodecene is readily biodegradable it has a log Kow >3. Dodecene would be classified as both Acute and Chronic Category 1 under the EU CLP Regulations as although it is readily biodegradable it has a log Kow >4.
