First-aid measures
IN CASE OF EYE CONTACT
Separate the eyelids and immediately flush eyes thoroughly with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Consult an oculist.
IN CASE OF SKIN CONTACT
Take off polluted clothing and shoes. Wash affected skin thoroughly for an extended period of time with plenty of soap and water. If skin irritation persists, seek medical assistance.
IN CASE OF INGESTION
If the person is fully conscious, rinse out the mouth with plenty of water and administer 2 glasses of water. Seek medical treatment immediately or request urgent assistance from emergency services. Provide attending medical staff with the container label or Safety Data Sheet.
IN CASE OF INHALATION
Immediately transfer the affected person from the dangerous area to fresh air. Seek medical treatment immediately or request urgent assistance from emergency services.
Fire-fighting measures
SUITABLE EXTINGUISHING MEDIA
Carbon dioxide; powder and foam extinguisher; water spray. DO NOT USE WATER JET.
SPECIFIC EXPOSURE HAZARDS ARISING FROM THE SUBSTANCE OR ITS COMBUSTION PRODUCTS
The product is combustible. Formation of carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and nitrogen oxides may take place during the combustion process. Corrosive vapours/gases are released during thermal decomposition/combustion. Heat will cause the pressure to rise in closed drums and the risk of rupture will increase.
SPECIFIC PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT AND MEASURES REQUIRED FOR FIRE-FIGHTING
Cool containers exposed to the fire with water spray. Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and OSHA/MSHA-approved clothing. If possible, collect contaminated water used to extinguish the fire and prevent release to the aquatic environment.
Accidental release measures
Wear protective clothing. Close all drains. Ventilate dangerous area by mechanical means. Seal leak if possible. In case of large spillage, contain by bunding. Only use explosion-proof tools, which are resistant to organic solvents. Observing relevant safety guidelines, mop up large amounts of liquid into labelled and resistant containers. Cover liquid residues using an inert chemical binder and transfer to labelled and resistant containers. Wash ground using plenty of water and an appropriate self-emulsifying solvent. Dispose of product residues by incineration at an approved site.
Handling and storage
HANDLING
Use only in well ventilated areas/workplaces. Avoid direct contact with the substance. Exhaust vapours released during processing/use directly at the origin of formation. Control applicability and reliability of material and equipment prior to use. Only use explosion-proof tools, which are resistant to organic solvents. Never mix the substance with acids, strong oxidisers or reducing agents. Comply with instruction for use described in the applicable exposure scenario. Provide eyewash fountains at the working place and install safety showers. Do not smoke in the work place.
STORAGE
Store only in tightly closed original containers in a cool, dry, place protected from humidity. Install spillage containers and store on impermeable ground. Do not store close to foodstuffs, animal nutrition and beverages. Take suitable precautionary measures against static discharges. Avoid spills and splashes during refilling process.
STATEMENT ADDRESSING STRICTLY CONTROLLED CONDITIONS FOR INTERMEDIATE USE
This substance is handled under Strictly Controlled Conditions in accordance with REACH regulation Article 17(3) for on - site isolated intermediates and, in case the substance is transported to other sites for further processing, the substance should be handled at these sites under the Strictly Controlled Conditions as specified in REACH regulation Article 18(4). Site documentation to support safe handling arrangements including the selection of engineering, administrative and personal protective equipment controls in accordance with risk-based management systems is available at each manufacturing site.
Written confirmation of application of Strictly Controlled Conditions has been received from every affected Distributor and Downstream Processor/User of the Registrant’s intermediate.

Exposure controls / personal protection
Respect the general requirements of industrial working hygiene as stated by the responsible professional organisation. Avoid any direct contact with the substance. Do not rub eyes with dirty hands. Wash hands after every use of the product. Take off polluted clothing and clean thoroughly before re-use. Separate work clothing from casual dress.
RESPIRATORY
In the case of insufficient ventilation, use respiratory protective device EN 3181 with gas filter and cartridge K2 and respect national time limits for use of protective respiratory devices.
EYE
Use protective goggles with side shields
HAND
- Use protective gloves if dermal exposure cannot be avoided. The glove material must be sufficiently impermeable and resistant to the substance. Check the tightness before wear. Gloves should be well cleaned before being removed, then stored in a well ventilated location. - Pay attention to skin care.
- Skin protection cremes do not protect sufficiently against the substance.
- Textile or leather gloves are completely unsuitable.
- The following materials are suitable for protective gloves (Permeation time >= 8 hours):
- Polychloroprene - CR (0,5 mm)
- Butyl rubber - Butyl (0,5 mm)
- Fluoro carbon rubber - FKM (0,4 mm)
- Polyvinyl chloride - PVC (0,5 mm)
- Protective gloves of the following materials should not be worn longer than 1 hour continually (Permeation time >= 1 hour):
- Natural rubber/Natural latex - NR (0,5 mm) (use non-powdered and allergen free products)
- Following materials are unsuitable for protective gloves because of degradation, severe swelling or low permeation time:
- Nitrile rubber/Nitrile latex - NBR
The times listed are suggested by measurements taken at 22 °C and constant contact. Temperatures raised by warmed substances, body heat, etc. and a weakening of the effective layer thickness caused by expansion can lead to a significantly shorter breakthrough time. In case of doubt contact the gloves' manufacturer. A 1.5-times increase / decrease in the layer thickness doubles / halves the breakthrough time. This data only applies to the pure substance. Transferred to mixtures of substances, these figures should only be taken as an aid to orientation.
BODY
Use impervious working clothes and impervious apron.
Stability and reactivity
CONDITIONS TO AVOID
Avoid strong thermal influences which may result in decomposition.
REACTIONS TO AVOID
Avoid contact of the substance with acids, strong oxidisers and reducing agents.
HAZARDOUS DECOMPOSITION PRODUCTS
Carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and nitrogen oxides form during decomposition of the substance. Toxic and corrosive vapours/gases are released during thermal decomposition of the substance.
Disposal considerations
Incinerate substance residues at an authorised site. Allow used containers to drain thoroughly and rinse with an appropriate solvent. Recycle contaminated containers after cleaning or dispose of at an authorised site. Recover the solvent used for rinsing and incinerate at a licensed site. Separate different packaging materials and dispose of separately. Do not release the substance to the environment. Decant and purify polluted waste water before release into the drains.
