Endpoint:
oxidising liquids
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with oxidising properties and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied

Description of key information

2,6-Dimethylheptan-4-one (diisobutyl ketone) has no functional and chemical groups associated with oxidizing properties. With the absence of structural alerts, classification for oxidizing properties is not required.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Oxidising properties:
no

Additional information

Diisobutyl ketone has no functional and chemical groups associated with oxidizing properties. With the absence of structural alerts, classification for oxidizing properties is not required. Diisobutyl ketone has no oxidizing character. Diisobutyl ketone contains oxygen and this element is chemically bonded only to carbon or hydrogen. Therefore the classification procedure using experimental testing need not be applied. In addition it can be stated that the oxygen balance of diisobutyl ketone is negative. In principle this means, that there is a surplus of carbon atoms for a complete reaction.
