The limiting diameter, i.e. the largest diameter of the orifice at which "explosion" occurs, is: <1.0 mm

Assessment of the result within the meaning of test E.1 (related to Division 4.1): There is no effect from intensively heating the substance under high confinement.

Assessment of the result within the meaning of test 1(b): There is no effect from intensively heating the substance under high confinement ("-").

Assessment of the result within the meaning of test 2(b): There is no violent effect from intensively heating the substance under high confinement ("-").

Assessment of the result within the meaning of test 1(c):

The maximum pressure reached in any one test is less than 2070 kPa gauge.

The substance show not the ability to deflagrate ("-").

Assessment of the result within the meaning of test 2(c):

The time for a pressure rise from 670 kPa to 2070 kPa is 30 ms or more or a pressure of 2070 kPa gauge is not reached.

The substance shows slow or no deflagration ("-").

Interpretation of the results

The test substance is not considered to exhibit a danger of explosion. The result does not lead to a classification

Description of key information

The test substance is not considered to exhibit a danger of explosion. The result does not lead to a classification.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information

A GLP study was conducted according to Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 and Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008.

The BASF GLP study no. SIK 16/0787 determined that the test substance is not considered to exhibit a danger of explosion.

For safety reasons the sensitivity to impact is tested in a preliminary test. No effects were detected.

The test for thermal sensitivity (E.1) also showed no effects.

Assessment of the result within the meaning of test 2(b): There is

The time/Pressure Test (C.1; Test 1(c); Test 2(c)) show not the ability to deflagrate.

The BAM Trauzl test (F.3) showed that the test substance has no explosive power.

Therefore the test substance is not considered to exhibit a danger of explosion.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Classification, Labelling, and Packaging Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008:

Taking into account the provisions laid down in Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008, as amended for the sixth time in Regulation (EC) No 605/2014., the substance is not considered to be classified for explosive properties.
