Description of key information

Guideline conform skin and eye irritation studies in rabbits were performed under GLP conditions. The test substance was not irritating to rabbit skin and showed slight, reversible eye irritation. The substance is therefore not classified for skin- or eye irritation.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin irritation / corrosion

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no adverse effect observed (not irritating)

Eye irritation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
adverse effect observed (irritating)

Additional information

The test item was not irritating to rabbit skin in any of the test animals at any time point. Slight eye irritation (mean 24, 48, 72 h 0.66 in 3 animals for conuctival redness and 0.33 for conjunctival chemosis) was observed in the rabbit eye irritation test.

Effects on eye irritation: slightly irritating

Justification for classification or non-classification

The test item did not show any skin irritating effects in a guideline study in rabbits. The irritation scores observed in the eye irritation study in rabbits accordign to current guidelines do not warrant a clssification as eye irritant. From the existing studies no conclusion on possible respriatory irritation can be drawn, but the low irritation potential does not indicate a concern for respiratory irritation.
