Description of key information

PTSA was tested in a CO2 evolution test and showed >99% biodegradation in 28 days. The extent of biodegradation of AMP based on BOD, CO2 evolution, and dissolved organic carbon (DOC) removal reached 89.3 ± 10.8%, 90.9± 2.9%, and 98.1 ± 1.7% (mean ± 1 Std. Dev.).

Additional information

Aromatic sulphonic acids and their salts are known to completely ionise in water even at low pH. Based on the outcome of the test on the components, the substance is considered readily biodegradable.
