Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

According to the REACH Regulation EC 1907/2006, Annex IX, Column 2 (specific rules for adaptation from Column 1), effects on terrestrial organisms specific studies do not need to be conducted if direct and indirect exposure of the soil compartment is unlikely. In the absence of toxicity data for soil organisms, the equilibrium partitioning method may be applied to assess the hazard to soil organisms.

Based on the estimated koc 3.16 l/kg (corresponding to a log koc of 0.5), the calculated PNEC is 0.196 mg/Kg soil dw (ca 0.173 mg/kg sediment ww). The highest predicted exposure concentration conservative value is around 0.0008 mg/kg dw, with a local RCR of 0.004 (see Chemical Safety Assessment), while the maximum monitored reported level of a Stilbene Fluorescent Whitening Agent is of 0.45 mg/Kg[1]. This monitored quantity was measured after voluntary exposure of the soil to the sludge. Based on the Chemical Safety Assessment and the described exposure scenarios no exposure is expected.
