Description of key information
Hydrolsis
The hydrolysis study does not need to be conducted as the substance is readily biodegradable.
Biodegradation in water
The ready biodegradability of the reaction mass was investigated according to the OECD guideline 301 F (1992). All validity criteria were fulfilled. The reaction mass reached the pass level of 60% for ready biodegradability in the Manometric Respirometry Test within the 10-d window and, therefore, can be termed as readily biodegradable. The procedure control sodium benzoate reached 86% biodegradation after 14 days, thus confirming suitability of inoculum and test conditions.
Biodegredation in water and sediment
The study does not need to be conducted as the substance is readily biodegradable.
Bioaccumulation: aquatic / sediment
The bioaccumulation study does not need to be conducted as the log Kow for the substance is -0.69.
Adsorption / desorption
The adsorption/desorption study does not need to be conducted as the substance has a log Kow ≤ 3 (i.e. -0.69) and it and its degredation products decompose rapidly.
