Description of key information

Tetradecane: LD50 > 5000 mg/kg bw
Paraffin wax: LD50 > 5000 mg/kg bw
C12-14-Paraffin: LD50 > 5000 mg/kg bw
C10-13-Paraffin: LD50 > 5000 mg/kg bw

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Acute toxicity: via oral route

Endpoint conclusion
Dose descriptor:
LD50
Value:
5 000 mg/kg bw

Additional information

In ball studies there were no clinical signs of toxicity during the observation period and growth rates were normal. There were no mortalities and no macroscopic changes were observed at autopsy. The LD50 was found to be greater than 5g/kg.

Based on the results from similar substances the acute toxicity oral for C14 -17-Alkanes is expected to be: LD50 > 5000 mg/kg bw
