Endpoint:
flammable solids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
August 10, 2016 - October 21, 2016
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to
Guideline:
EU Method A.10 (Flammability (Solids))
Deviations:
no
Principles of method if other than guideline:
In the preliminary screening test, the test item was formed into a powder train 250 mm long, 20 mm wide, 10 mm high on a stainless-steel plate. A Bunsen burner flame was applied to one end of the powder train for a maximum of 2 minutes (or until ignition). The preliminary screening test was performed in duplicate. Two preliminary tests were performed and the same sample behaviour was observed.
GLP compliance:
no
Specific details on test material used for the study:
Internal sample code: 2929564-001
Purity: 100.3% w/w
Batch number: 2510468
Key result
Test procedure:
burning rate test: preliminary screening test
Remarks:
Test item did not ignite
Remarks on result:
other: Test item did not ignite
Remarks:
Test item did not ignite

Two preliminary tests were performed and the same sample behaviour was observed.

The test item, a white powder, did not ignite, but the solid sample melted when the Bunsen burner flame came close.

Since test item did not propagate combustion, no further testing was required.

Interpretation of results:
other: Not flammable
Remarks:
Not flammable
Conclusions:
From the obtained experimental data according to the A.10 method in Council Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008, it can be concluded that the Delmopinolo HCl sample is a not highly flammable substance.
Executive summary:

The Delmopinol HCl was not flammable.
