Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The 96-hour LC50 value of 60.9 mg/L for ethyl 3-ethoxypropanoate is the geometric mean of three 96-hour LC50 values taken from two valid exposure studies with fathead minnows (Pimephales promelas).

Additional information

Two valid acute freshwater fish studies were listed for this endpoint. Both studies were assigned Klimish scores of 2 based on the either on the lack of analytical confirmation of test solution concentrations or slight depressions in dissolved oxygen levels on the last day of the exposure. Both studies were conducted with fathead minnows (Pimephales promelas) with reported 96-hour LC50 values of 45.3 and 55.3 mg/L (calculated from different replicate groups in one study) and 90 mg/L ethyl 3-ethoxypropanoate. In accordance with ECHA guidance (R.10.2.2), the geometric mean of the toxicity endpoints, if within an order of magnitude, can be used to calculate a species value for a given endpoint. Thus, the key parameter for the acute fish studies was the LC50 value of 60.9 mg/L, which was the geometric mean of three 96-hour LC50 values (45.3, 55.3 and 90 mg/L) reported for ethyl 3-ethoxypropanoate in tests with the fathead minnow.
