Although not required under REACH, Corrosive to metals is a CLP related endpoint.

According to the ECHA Guidance on the Application of the CLP Criteria (version 4.0), only substances and mixtures for which the application of the UN Test C.1 (described in part III, Section 37.4.1.1 of the UN-MTC) is relevant need to be considered. Application of classification criteria in the UN-MTC, Section 37.4 excludes solids, while ‘liquids and solids that may become liquids (during transport)’, have to be considered for such a classification. Solids having a melting point lower than 55 °C (which is the test temperature required in UN Test C.1) must then be taken into consideration, as well as solids dissoluted in water (or another solvent).

As this substance has no melting point below 400°C, is poorly soluble in water and is not transported dissoluted in water (or in another solvent), performing the corrosive to metals test with an aqueous solution of the substance is not considered needed. Furthermore the molecular structure of the substance does not contain strong acidic/basic groups.

Based on all available information, it was concluded that the substance does not have to be classified for the CLP hazard 'corrosive to metals' and testing does not need to be to be considered.
