Skin sensitization

In different studies, Dialuminium tris(4-hydroxy-3-((4-sulphonato-1-naphthyl)azo)naphthalenesulphonate) (84041-67-8) has been investigated for potential of skin sensitization to a greater or lesser extent. The studies are based on in vivo experiments inguinea pig for target chemical, Dialuminium tris(4-hydroxy-3-((4-sulphonato-1-naphthyl)azo)naphthalenesulphonate) (84041-67-8) and its structurally similar read across substancesmelamine (108-78-1)and FD and C Red 4(4548-53-2)the predicted data using the OECD QSAR toolbox has also been compared with the experimental data of read across.

The skin sensitization potential of Dialuminium tris(4-hydroxy-3-((4-sulphonato-1-naphthyl)azo)naphthalenesulphonate) (84041-67-8) was estimated by SSS (2017) using OECD QSAR toolbox v3.3 with log kow as the primary descriptor and considering the five closest read across substances Dialuminium tris(4-hydroxy-3-((4-sulphonato-1-naphthyl)azo)naphthalenesulphonate) (84041-67-8) was predicted to be not sensitizing to the skin of male and female Dunkin-Hartley guinea pig.

The experimental study conducted byInstitute for Arbeitsschutz der Deutschen Gesetzlichen Unfallversicherung (IFA) GESTIS-database on hazardous substance(IFA GESTIS, 2016)to evaluate the skin sensitizing potential of read across substancemelamine (108-78-1).In Guinea pig maximization test melamine (108-78-1) not produce any skin sensitization reaction on guinea pig so melamine was consider as not skin sensitizing in guinea pig.

The experimental study conducted by Directorate-General Environment, Consumer Protection and Nuclear Safety (Commission of the European Communities reports of the Scientific Committee on Cosmetology (seventh series), 1988)to evaluate the skin sensitizing potential of read across substance FD and C Red 4(4548-53-2). Kligman maximisation test was conducted on chemical FD and C Red 4(4548-53-2).25 healthy adults were exposed to concentration up to 0.3% (0.3 gm) in petrolatum and applied under occlusion for 48-hrs was negative. Hence, Non-sensitising effects was considered in Kligman maximisation test of chemical FD and C Red 4 exposed to 25 human adults for 48-hrs.

Thus based on the above predictions on Dialuminium tris(4-hydroxy-3-((4-sulphonato-1-naphthyl)azo)naphthalenesulphonate) (84041-67-8) as well as its read across and applying weight of evidence, it can be concluded that Dialuminium tris(4-hydroxy-3-((4-sulphonato-1-naphthyl)azo)naphthalenesulphonate) (84041-67-8) is not a skin sensitizer.

Thus comparing the above studies with the criteria of CLP regulation, Dialuminium tris(4-hydroxy-3-((4-sulphonato-1-naphthyl)azo)naphthalenesulphonate) (84041-67-8)can be considered as not classified for skin sensitization.
