Additional information

The acute toxicity of phthalonitrile (CAS 91-15-6) against fish was assessed in a guideline study according to OECD 203 with Oryzias latipes as test species (MITI, 2000). The fish were exposed to a series of 5 test concentrations and a control in a semi-static approach. The 96-h LC50 was 22.6 mg/L (nominal, analytically verified). This study was selected as key study.

Based on this result, phthalonitrile is considered to be acutely harmful to fish.
