Additional information

One study is available investigating the biodegradation of Tetraesters of pentaerythritol with 2-ethylhexanoic acid, heptanoic acid and nonanoic acid (EC 806-879-4). The study was performed according to OECD 301F (GLP) under aerobic conditions using activated sludge from a sewage treatment plant treating predominantly domestic sewage and a test concentration of 82 mg/L (Muckle, 2015). A biodegradation of 73% (O2 consumption) was observed after 28 d. Since the substance reached the pass level for OECD 301F (biodegradation is > 60% after 28 d, meeting the 10-day window) Tetraesters of pentaerythritol with 2-ethylhexanoic acid, heptanoic acid and nonanoic acid (EC 806-879-4) is readily biodegradable according to the OECD criteria. All validity criteria of the guideline were met.
