Introduction

Three assays were performed during the test. For the melting point, two assays complied with the accuracy criterion. Only these assays are presented in the following pages.

Assay No. 1

Gas used                     Nitrogen

Ventilation                  Yes

Crucible used              Aluminium, 120 µL, with pierced lid

Mass of test item         18.48 mg

Programmation            Phase 1:Isotherm at about 25 °C for 5 min

                                   Heating phase from 25 °C to 600 °C at 10 °C/min

                                   Phase 2:Cooling phase from 600 °C to 25 °C at 50 °C/min

                                   Isotherm at 25 °C for 10 min

Conclusion: The melting point of this assay was recorded at 68.1 °C.

 Assay No. 3

Gas used                     Nitrogen

Ventilation                  Yes

Crucible used              Aluminium, 120 µL, with pierced lid

Mass of test item         16.63 mg

Programmation            Phase 1:Isotherm at about 25 °C for 5 min

                                   Heating phase from 25 °C to 150 °C at 10 °C/min

                                   Phase 2:Cooling phase from 150 °C to 25 °C at 50 °C/min

                                   Isotherm at 25 °C for 10 min

Conclusion: The melting point of this assay was 68.3 °C.

Conclusions:
The mean melting point of the test item was 68.2 °C ± 0.5 °C.
Executive summary:

Melting point of tetrabenzylpyrophosphate has been determined according to EC A.1 method in compliance with GLP. Using Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), the melting temperature of the test substance was determined to be equal to 68.2°C at 1013 hPa.

Description of key information

The melting point was determined to be equal to 68.2 °C

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Melting / freezing point at 101 325 Pa:
68.2 °C

Additional information

An experimental study, scored as Klimisch1, was selected as a key study. It was performed in compliance with GLP according to EC A.1 test guideline.
