Additional information

Experimental data are available for the toxicity of octane-1 -thiol to fish, algae and aquatic invertebrates. Supporting data have been read across from dodecane-1 -thiol for toxicity algae and fish and from tert-dodecanethiol for toxicity to micro-organisms. The following sections detail the robust summaries prepared for these substances and any justifications for waiving the endpoints in the appropriate sections. The results indicate that algae would be the most sensitive trophic level, with a NOEC of 0.0104 mg/L. The algae data would result in octane-1 -thiol being classified as very toxic to the aquatic environment (acute category 1), with the hazard phrase "very toxic to aquatic life" under CLP and R50 under DSD.
