Description of key information

After 72 hours of exposure to geranyl acetate, an EC50 of 3.72 mg/l based on measured values was determined.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The effect of the substance on the growth rate of Desmodesmus subspicatus was investigated in a guideline study according to OECD 201 using the main component of the reaction mass: geranyl acetate, CAS 105-87 -3.

After 72 hours of exposure an EC50 of 3.72 mg/l based on measured values was determined (BASF SE, 2010). The second main component, neryl acetate (CAS 141-12-8), however, is structural homolog to geranyl acetate. Accordingly, the results on growth rate can be used to determine the acute toxicity for the reaction mass.
