Description of key information

At test termination an LC50 of 11.0 mg/L was determined for the main component geranyl acetate.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

A study on the toxicity of the substance to fish is not available. The presented data refer to CAS 115-95-7, a structural analogue of geranylacetate, which is the main component of the mixture. The other component, neryl acetate, again, is a structural homolog to geranylacetate. Thus, it is expected that the toxicity to fish can be derived from the presented study. The toxicity of the analogue substance to Cyprinus carpio was tested in a flow-through test system set up according to OECD TG 203. The animals were exposed for 96 hours and at test termination an LC50 of 11.0 mg/L was determined (F. Hoffmann-La Roche AG, 1998).
