Conclusion on classification

Short-term aquatic toxicity data are available for two trophic levels (aquatic invertebrates and aquatic algae). The acute effect values for daphnids and algae (D. subspicatus) are 3.58 mg/L and 1.52 mg/L, respectively. The substance does not need to be classified for acute aquatic hazard. Long-term aquatic toxicity data are available only for aquatic algae for which a NOErC value of 0.13 mg/L was determined. As only one reliable long-term toxicity endpoint is available, chronic classification needs to be based on both acute and chronic data and the worst case classification applied. The substance is readily biodegradable, has a log Kow of 5.2 (no experimental BCF is available) and a lowest acute effect value in the range of 1 -10 mg/L based on which it is classified as chronic 2 (H411). Based on its ready biodegradability and the chronic effect value in the range of 0.1 - 1 mg/L, the substance is classified as chronic 3 (H412). Therefore, based on the acute/chronic data, the substance is classified as H411 (Aquatic Chronic 2) according to Regulation 1272/2008/EC (CLP).
