Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
15 Oct 2013
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: GLP - guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
other: UN-Test N.1
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Remarks:
Hessisches Ministerium für Umwelt, Energie, Landwirtschaft und Verbraucherschutz, Wiesbaden, Germany
Test procedure:
burning time (test type not further specified)
Remarks:
or specified in description of method (migrated information)
Burning time:
> 120 s
Remarks on result:
other: Due to the burning behaviour the test item does not have to be classified as a “readily combustible solid”, class 4.1, of the UN transport regulations. The test item could not be ignited with a flame during the preliminary test.

The test item could not be ignited with a flame during the preliminary test.

Endpoint:
substances / mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:

Endpoint:
pyrophoric solids
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
other:
Endpoint:
self-heating substances / mixtures
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is known to be soluble in water to form a stable mixture

Description of key information

non flammable ( (UN RTDG N1)
no flammability on contact with water
no pyrophoricity

not self-heating

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
not classified

Additional information

The substance is not combustible. Based on experience in handling and use and the chemical structure pyrophoricity and flammability on contact with water are not to be expected. The substance shows no self-heating properties based on DSC analysis.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The available data on flammability of the test substance do not meet the criteria for classification according to Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 or Directive 67/548/EEC, and are therefore conclusive but not sufficient for classification:

The substance is not combustible therefore not considered to be classified as flammable solid in a test according to UN RTDG Test N.1. Based on the chemical structure and experience in handling and use, pyrophoricity and flammability on contact with water are not expected. The substance shows no self-heating properties based on DSC analysis.
