First-aid measures

Protection of first aiders: self-contained breathing apparatus, gloves, goggles and boots.Inhalation: Move the person away from the contaminated area. Make the affected person rest. Obtain medical attention. Show this sheet to the doctor. If the affected person not breathing or if breathing is irregular, provide artificial respiration or oxygen by trained personnel.Skin contact: Remove all contaminated clothing and footwear. Wash immediately and thoroughly for a prolonged period (at least 15 minutes). In case of inflammation (redness or irritation) obtain medical attention.Eyes contact: Immediately rinse with plenty of running water for a prolonged period, (at least 15 minutes) whilst keeping the eyelids open. Always obtain medical advice immediately, even if there are no symptoms.Ingestion: NEVER attempt to induce vomiting. Do not give anything to drink. Always obtain medical attention immediately.Further information: Use appropriate protective equipment when treating a contaminated person. Place contaminated clothing in a sealed bag for disposal

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media:Suitable: Water spray, foam, extinction powder carbon dioxide (CO2). Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture:Combustible. During combustion the substance can release highly toxic gases (nitrogen oxides, Sulphur oxides, cianydes).Advice for firefighters:fire-fighters must act from a protect position.Protection of fire-fighters: Self-contained breathing apparatus. Impermeable boots and protective equipment. Specific fire fighting methods: Cool down the containers/equipment exposed to heat with a water spray.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures:For non-emergency personnel: Evacuate the danger area. For emergency responders: Contain the spilled material by bounding. Do NOT discharge into drains or rivers. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. NO flames, NO sparks. Eliminate all sources of ignition. Personal protective equipment: self-contained breathing apparatus; appropriate gloves; safety glasses; water-proof boots.Environmental precautions:Avoid environmental dispersion. Do not introduce in sewer or in water courses. If spillage occurs on the public highway, indicate the danger and notify the authorities (police, fire brigade). Methods and material for containment and cleaning up:Large spillage: collect the spilled material with mechanical equipment. Contaminated water must be sent in a waste water treatment plant.Small spillage: collect the spilled material with mechanical equipment. Contaminated water must be sent in a waste water treatment plant.Neutralization: Spread inert absorbent material.Recovery: Collect up the product and place it in a spare container suitably labeled.Cleaning/decontamination: Wash contaminated area with large amounts of water. Recover the cleaning water for subsequent disposal.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling:Technical measures: Avoid contact with air.Safe handling advice: Only use in well-ventilated areas.Technical measures: Ensure that there is a suitable retention system.Packaging materials recommended: Stainless steel (1,4301 V2, 1,4401 V4), steel covered with polyethylene.Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities:Storage conditions: Recommended: Store in a cool, well-ventilated area, away from any source of ignition (heat, sparks and free flames), away from incompatible materials.Incompatible products: oxidizing materials.Packaging: Metallic drums, metal container.polytene drums

Exposure controls / personal protection

Exposure controlContainment: Under standard operating conditions the substance is rigorously contained by technical means in the working area. The activities take place in a standardized way, under controlled conditions with dedicated equipment. In case a certain amount of the substance is not contained, a worker is not exposed to the substance as the use takes place in a fume hood or as the worker wears personal protective equipment and uses local exhaust ventilation. Formation of aerosols/mists/splashes is prevented.• Organisational measures: Minimise the number of staff in the working area. Minimise manual activities. Train employees how to safely handle the substance, incl. how to use personal protection equipment. Regularly clean up the working area. Have supervision in place to regularly check that the conditions of use are followed by the workers. Ensure that all equipment is well maintained. Ascertain that personal protection equipment is available and used according to the instructions. Ensure that eyewash stations and safety showers are available in the working area.• Ventilation conditions in the working area: Use only outdoors or in a well-ventilated • Local exhaust ventilation: Use local exhaust ventilation when vapour/mist/spray could be present in the air within the breathing zone of a worker.• Storage conditions: Store in a well-ventilated place (preferably outside). In an area equipped with acid resistant flooring. Protect from sunlight. Keep containers tightly closed. Keep away from combustible materials, heat, hot surfaces, sparks, open flames and other ignition sourcesPersonal protective equipment:Respiratory protection: If are released gases or vapours, use anti-gas filter for basic compounds like ammonia and amine (e.g. EN 14387 type K).Hands protection: Wear appropriate protective gloves resistant to chemical substances (EN 347). Permeation time > 480 min: Chloroprene rubber (CR) – 0,5 mm thickness; nitrile-rubber (NBR) – 0,4 mm thickness; polyvinyl chloride. There are many different types of gloves, follow the instruction of use supplied from producer.Eyes protection: Security googles (EN 166) with face-shield. Body protection: Choose the appropriate protective equipment in relation to work and exposure (e.g. apron, boots) (according to EN 14325 in case of spray, or EN 13982 in case of powder).Hygiene measures: Avoid to breathing the vapours. Avoid the contact with eyes and skin. Remove the contaminated clothes. After the work search for a detergent and a skin cream for skin

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity:May react with carbon dioxyde in air. Chemical stability: Stable under normal conditions of use.Possibility of hazardous reactions: Reaction with oxidant substances. If the decomposition temperature is overcome, may release toxic vapours and gases.Conditions to avoid:Avoid every ignition source: heat, sparks and free flames. Avoid to let the containers open and unprotect from light.Incompatible materials: Strong oxidizers substances.Hazardous decomposition products: On thermal decomposition (pyrolysis) releases highly toxic gases (Hydrogen cyanide, Ammonia).

Disposal considerations

Waste treatment methods:Incinerate at a licensed installation in observance of local regulation.Don’t discharge waste into rivers and drains.Treat empty containers like the substance.
