Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

For the assessment of the aquatic toxicity of 2,2'-oxydiethanol and 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate and 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate and hexan-6-olide and trimethylhexa-1,6-diyl diisocyanate (EC 944-336-4), experimental studies are available, which cover the short-term toxicity to all three trophic levels (fish, aquatic invertebrates and algae) and the long-term toxicity to one trophic level (aquatic algae). All studies were performed according to the internationally accepted OECD guidelines and GLP. The lowest acute effect value was determined for aquatic invertebrates with an EL50 of 15.9 mg/L (nominal). Less sensitive effects were determined towards fish and algae with an EL50 of 18 mg/L and EL50 of >100 mg/L, respectively. A chronic effect value is available only for algae. Long term biological effects were observed in this study resulting in a EL10 (72 h) of 22.8 mg/L (nominal). Moreover, the toxicity control of a standard ready biodegradability test indicates no toxic effects on activated sludge microorganisms.

However, based on the hydrolysis rates estimated for four representative components hydrolysis of the substance is possible. Degradation of the test substance was observed for all all three trophic levels. Since the lowest pH and therefore the slowest hydrolysis was connected to the highest degradation rate a relation is not expected.
