Results

Preliminary test

The preliminary test indicated a water solubility of <1g/L.

Definitive test

The water solubility of RCX 14-848 was determined according to TG OECD 105.

Several test vessels containing ultra-pure water mixed with test item in great excess (initial amount of test item about 1 g per litre water), were incubated and stirred for different periods of time at 30 °C (saturation phase), and then transferred at 20 °C for 24 h (equilibration phase). A sample from each test vessel was subsequently filtered with glass fibre filter and the concentration of test item in the clear aqueous phase was determined with HPLC. The obtained data is summarized in Table 2.

No significant variation of the concentrations in the 3 respective test vessels was observed after 1, 2 and 3 days of incubation at 30 °C (followed by 24 h equilibration at 20 °C).

The water solubility of RCX 14-848, calculated as the mean of the three vessels, is 59.4 mg/L at pH 6.2 and 20 °C.

Description of key information

Water solubility = 59.4 mg/L at pH 6.2 and 20 °C (OECD 105, A.6.)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Water solubility:
59.4 mg/L
at the temperature of:
20 °C

Additional information

The water solubility of the test item was determined using the flask method (with HPLC analysis) according to OECD 105 and EU Method A.6.
