Description of key information

The test material did not ignite and is therefore considered not highly flammable.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

The flammability of the test material was investigated in accordance with the standardised guideline EU Method A.10 under GLP conditions. The study was assigned a reliability score of 1 in accordance with the criteria for assessing data quality set forth by Klimisch et al. (1997).

In a preliminary test, the test material was filled into a mould, then the mould was dropped three times from a height of 2 cm onto a solid surface and the mould was filled up again. The lateral limitations were removed and the excess material scraped off. A non-combustible and non-porous plate was placed on top of the mould, inverted and the mould removed. The flame from a gas burner was applied to one end of the powder train. The test was carried out in duplicate.

The test material did not ignite. Based on the results of the preliminary test, no further testing was required.

Under the conditions of this study, the test material was found not to be a readily combustible substance.

Justification for classification or non-classification

In accordance with the criteria for classification as defined in Annex I, Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008, the substance does not require classification with respect to flammability.
