Additional information

Appearance

At ambient temperature and pressure, Trimethylolpropane diallyl ether 80 is a colourless liquid with a slight odour (Analytical Chemistry, Perstorp Holding AB, 2009).

Melting point

The melting point and freezing point of Trimethylolpropane diallyl ether 80 is below -20 °C (Analytical Chemistry, Perstorp Holding AB, 2009).

Boiling point

The boiling point of Trimethylolpropane diallyl ether 80 is 534 K (260 °C) at 101.3 kPa (Analytical Chemistry, Perstorp Holding AB, 2009).

Density

The relative density of Trimethylolpropane diallyl ether 80 is 0.96 at 20 °C (relative to water at 4 °C) (Analytical Chemistry, Perstorp Holding AB, 2009).

Granulometry

According to "Endpoint specific guidance R.7.1.14.1" the granulometry test does not need to be conducted as Trimethylolpropane diallyl ether 80 is a liquid.

Vapour pressure

Since the vapour pressure of Trimethylolpropane diallyl ether 80 was predicted to be below 1.0 Pa, and such low vapour pressures are experimentally difficult to perform, calculation of vapour pressure was done using SPARC and MPBPWIN. The calculated vapour pressure of Trimethylolpropane diallyl ether 80 is 0.17 Pa at 25 °C as the highest predicted value using SPARC (Analytical Chemistry, Perstorp Holding AB, 2009).

Partition coefficient

The partition coefficient (log Kow) for Trimethylolpropane diallyl ether 80 is 3.0 at 20 °C (Analytical Chemistry, Perstorp Holding AB, 2009).

Water solubility

The solubility of Trimethylolpropane diallyl ether in water is 4.1 g/L at 20°C (Analytical Chemistry, Perstorp Holding AB, 2009).

Surface tension

The surface tension of Trimethylolpropane diallyl ether 80 is 50 mN/m at 20°C (Analytical Chemistry, Perstorp Holding AB, 2009).

Flash point

The flash point of Trimethylolpropane diallyl ether 80 is 391 K (118 °C) (Analytical Chemistry, Perstorp Holding AB, 2009).Autoflammability

The self-ignition temperature of Trimethylolpropane diallyl ether 80 is 230 °C (Analytical Chemistry, Perstorp Holding AB, 2009).

Flammability

According to "Endpoint specific guidance R.7.1.10.1" flammability test does not have to be conducted as Trimethylolpropane diallyl ether 80 is a liquid. Flammability of the substance is expressed as flash point.

Explosiveness

Examination of the structure indicates that there are no groups associated with explosive properties. Therefore, negative results can be predicted and no testing for explosive properties has been carried out.

Oxidising properties

Due to the structural composition of the substance it is not considered to be oxidising. The substance does not contain any of the components listed in “Endpoint specific guidance R.7.1.13.3 table R.7.1-29”. According to “Endpoint specific guidance R.7.1.13.4 no experimental testing has to be conducted if the substance due to structural composition is considered not to be oxidising.

Stability in organic solvents

The stability in organic solvents is not considered critical to ensure confidence in other test results for other endpoints. Therefore testing is not needed to be conducted according to “Endpoint specific guidance R.7.1.16”.

Dissociation constant

The calculation program SPARC has been used for the prediction and it indicated that the substance is not an ionisable compound since no change in charge was obtained at different pH. According to “Endpoint specific guidance R.7.1.17.1” the dissociation constant does not have to be conducted for substances that lack ionisable functional groups.

Viscosity

The viscosity of Trimethylolpropane diallyl ether 80 is 13 mPa s at 20 °C and 5.5 mPa s at 40 °C (Analytical Chemistry, Perstorp Holding AB, 2009).
