Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

In a 3-hour toxicity test to activated sludge bacteria the respiration inhibition was measured by oxygen consumtion. The EC 50 was > 100 mg/l, and the EC20/10 was also > 100 mg/l during the 3 hr-period. The highest tested concentration, and the EC 10 /NOEC was 41.5 mg/l. The test was performed according to OECD guideline 209
TGIC was added as dry material (amount by weighing of directly added substance) and no analytical determination of the concentration was performed.
Based on the results the toxicity of TGIC towards sludge bacteria is considered low.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for microorganisms:
100 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for microorganisms:
100 mg/L

Additional information

The test performed was in conformity with OECD guideline 209, and showed a low toxicity of TGIC towards activated sludge bacteria, based on respiration inhibition. The EC50 of > 100 mg/l, and the EC 20/10 > 100 mg/l can be considered as practically non-toxic , and no damage of sewage treatment plants is to be expected.

No further test have been conducted as environmental concentrations of TGIC are extremely low.
