Reference
Endpoint:
partition coefficient
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
2010-05-07
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: Determination has been run according to standardized method but without GLP compliance.
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 123 (Partition Coefficient (1-Octanol / Water), Slow-Stirring Method)
Deviations:
yes
Remarks:
Some adjustments have been done. The concentration of the surfactant are below the CMC value, pH has been adjusted to pH 6
GLP compliance:
no
Other quality assurance:
ISO/IEC 17025 (General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories)
Type of method:
slow-stirring method
Partition coefficient type:
octanol-water
Key result
Partition coefficient:
-0.3
Temp.:
25.6 °C
pH:
6
Remarks on result:
other: The temperature during sampling was between 25.3 and 26.5 °C. The average temperature during sampling was 25.6 °C.

The measurements were made at pH=6 and at an initial concentration of 6.7 mg/L in the water phase (ca 10% of the critical micelle concentration (CMC). The partition coefficient value was determined from the weighed average of the concentrations of the main components in the product listed in the table below.

Substance  Log Pow
Oleyl tripropylenetetramine

-0.3

with the following results of its components:
 Octadecylene propylene diamine 1.5
 Hexadecyl dipropylene triamine -1.7
 Octadecylene dipropylene triamine -0.3
 Octadecyldiene dipropylene triamine -1.0
 Hexadecyl tripropylene tetramine -1.9
 Octadecylene tripropylene tetramine -1.2
 Octadecyldiene tripropylene tetramine -1.8
Conclusions:
The partition coefficient of the test substance is -0.3 at 25.6 °C at pH 6.

Description of key information

The Log Pow of the test substance has been determined by the sum of the Log Pow contribution from its major components. The Log Pow has been determined to -0.3 at 25.6 °C at pH 6.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Log Kow (Log Pow):
-0.3
at the temperature of:
25.6 °C
